How big are the classes?
Classes have a maximum size of about 15 in the Infant and Toddlers classes and about 12 in a Junior class.
How long does a session last?
The class itself is 45 minutes. There is time for questions (and chatting) too before and after so you should allow an hour.
My baby has special needs, is Baby College suitable for him?
Classes are suitable and beneficial for all babies, if you or your baby have specific requirements please contact us, we will be happy to discuss these with you and advise which class would be most suitable for you.
Are the classes just for mothers and babies, or can fathers come too?
Mums, dads, grannies, grandpas, aunties, uncles, nannies etc are all welcome. We have quite a few dads who regularly attend and report that it is not as scary as most baby groups (maybe because of the structured nature of the classes?). It is a lovely opportunity for dads to spend some one-to-one time with baby and for dads (or mums) who can't come every week, or if granny is visiting for the week, it is fine to bring along an extra grown-up occasionally to join in or to watch. We only charge for babies!
Do I have to make a block booking for a term or can I just drop in to classes when I have time?
Since classes are limited in size we ask you to book your place for the term and pay in advance. It is sometimes possible to book for part of a term if you have a date for going back to work or a big holiday planned as long as we know the dates in advance (and subject to availability). Please ask if you are not sure. It is also usually fine to come along for an initial one-off session before booking for a whole term (again this depends on availability).
Is it possible to leave the baby with you and go and get a coffee or do I have to attend?
Classes are for parents and babies to attend together, we don't offer any childcare provision for babies (or for other siblings). We suggest going for coffee after the class with all the other lovely mums, dads and babies you will meet there!
Can I bring my older/younger child along with me to class?
Older siblings although lovely are too distracting in the infant class so I'm afraid the answer is no for that age group. In the Toddler and Junior classes it sometimes OK for older (or younger) siblings to come too, please check if this is the case. We also offer a reduced rate if you attend more than one class or bring more than one participating child (twins for example).
Can I join mid-term?
It is fine to join a class any time, just ask us about availability in your chosen venue. If you start mid-term you only pay for the remaining classes that term.
